Safe Pet Stain and Odor Remover

One of my favorite websites for getting to the bottom of a product’s greenness is the Environmental Working Group (EWG). Products are graded from A to F for potential health and environmental hazards.  toxicity ratings of pet sprays

After being a loyal user of Nature’s Miracle Stain and Odor Remover, I was disappointed to learn they only received a C by EWG. In fact, out of 23 Pet Stain Remover and Deoderizer products graded by EWG, only one brand received an A ranking and an alarming nine received an F!.

Although the review states this is not a green certified product, it has received Design for the Environment (DfE) recognition from the EPA and is certified by the Natural Products Association. It ranks a low concern for general systemic/organ effects, general ecotoxicity, and developmental/endocrine/reproductive effects.

Ingredients listed on the label:

  • Purified Water
  • Eucalyptus (Eucalyptus Australiana) Oil
  • Vanilla Bean Oil
  • Peppermint (Leaf) Oil
  • Glycerin (botanically sourced)
  • Plant Bioflavonoids
  • Octanoic Acid
  • Lactic Acid

For use on bedding, furniture, crates & kennels, toys, hard surfaces, throughout the home, in the car, or wherever dog odors are a problem. And perhaps best of all, it seems to have great reviews online. Now it’s off to the store to find a bottle for myself to test – I’ll keep you posted!
